Good topic idea!

The Berlin wall fell

In Cincinnati, working at the law library at UC. Thinking "I never thougth I would see this happen" and also thinking history will have to see Ronald Reagan in a whole new light now about this.

The Gulf war started

Well if we are talking about Iraq's invasion of Kuwait I was living in Florida. If we talk about the US led invasion in 1991 I was back in Ohio.

9-11

At work. My brother called me and told me about the first plane. I turned up the radio and went to Yahoo news. I was the first one to post it to the board I think. I also posted it to Cincinnati.com and it was the last topic posted there before they pulled the plug. No one ever even responded to it as the board crashed within minutes of my posting it. I remember specifically challenging Dieter to excuse it somehow as he usually did such things. I remember the weather that morning more than anything, it was perfect. I remember going to the catering/conference rooms at the front of our office and someone had a tv on. About 20 people were in there with me including my boss's boss. We all just watched it stunned, in silence. I went back to my department in a daze and none of them knew how bad it had gotten. Someone asked me "what's wrong?" and I said "both towers have collapsed completely" and the same stunned silence befell everyone there. Sends chills down my spine just thinking about it.
I also remember the song "it's the end of the world as we know it..." playing in my head the rest of the day.
It's a damn good thing for the rest of the world I wasn't President Bush that day.

Oklahoma city bombing

Downtown Cincinnati with my father for a court hearing of his own. By the time we left the federal building that day police were swarming everywhere not knowing if the Cincinnati federal Building could be a target too. Next day we went to Tunica, Mississippi to the casinos.

Reagan was shot

10th grade in highschool. I remember the next day demanding that Hinckley be shot. I remember my history teacher also stating life inprisonment without parole was his choice of punishment (He was Mormon and didn't believe in capital punishment)

JFK was shot and killed

In-between incarnations.

9-11

I was sitting at my desk when I got an email entitled, "The JPMorgan Offices Are Closed For the Day." I opened the email and there was no message inside. I stopped a fellow coworker and asked if he saw the email because I didn't understand it.

He said, "Didn't you hear about the jet hitting the World Trade Center." I got up to go to another's office where everyone was crowded around a Bloomberg. I arrived just in time to see the second plane hit.

Gulf War

I was taking evening classes at NKU and saw the coverage on the tv in the student union.

JFK

I was born in April of 1963. So I don't remember much of it.

Space Shuttle Challenger

I was taking a dump in the first floor bathroom of UC's library. An obviously distraught man entered the bathroom (who I couldn't see because I was in the stall) and asked if I heard what happened.

So, yes, I had a somewhat uneasy conversation (uh, excuse me, I'm pooping) with some emotional guy who I never actually got to see. I wonder if it was GL.

1. The Berlin Wall - Heard it on the news on TV.
2. Gulf War - On the radio, in my car, on the
way to work. The big boss allowed us to
have a radio at work for the first time.
3. 9/11 - Sitting on our couch,watching "Live"
when they broke in & said there had been an
"accident" at the WTC and proceeded to see
the second plane hit & stayed glued (sp.?)
to the TV ALL day.
4. Oklahoma City Bombing - On the radio, at
work.
5. Pres. Reagan Shot - In the car, driving my
girls home from school.
6. JFK shot - This is the most vivid in my mind
followed by 9/11. We had two kids, my
husband was working 3rd shift and we were
living in three rooms, so I was trying to
keep the kids quiet while Mr. Sluggo slept.
Had TV on, watching "Bowling for Dollars"
on and they broke into the program with a
bulliten. I couldn't decide whether or not
I should wake Jim. Decided to wake him and
the next three of four days were spent
watching TV. On the 24th of Nov. (our
third wedding anniversary) we had just
walked in the door at my parents house when
Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald.

For the Challenger disaster I was walking down the hall in my house, having been fired for the first time in my life. I was fired because I refused to fudge the cash report! I got to the family room (where the TV was on) just at the time of the explosion. I can remember stopping, dead in my tracks, & watching, in horror, while the announcer described the explosion and speculated about the cause. Question

Berlin Wall- At Home flipping through the channles and saw a scene of people rockincg a piece of the wall back and forth and celebrating.

Gulf War- At work, war was decclraed over all stasions. The person working the service bar had a tv (mine) on and they broke in with the news that the bombing had begun

I woke up and turned on the news. I imediatedly went online to see what happened. As I was on my cell phone asking why service was out, I watched live on tv in horror as we all did as the second plane hit the trade center. Still onlinbe, I tried to check and see what was going on as I heard of a third and forth plane one headed for the pentagon and one over Philly. Franticly checking on people and where the planes were.
I as everyone else did felt a sense of sadness and patriotism as never before.

OK city Bombing, watching the midday news they give a late breaking stiry. Switch over to the natinal networks anmd cant beleive what I see.

Reagan was shot. Actually didnt find out until much later. someone tells me this, but cant belive it until I see it.

I'm 37. JFK's shooting is not gonna be one of my memories.

This isnt meant to be morbid, but more or less to show how we not only remember what happened but where we were when it happened.
